Fun workshops and storytelling sessions based on my book, Developing Early Maths through story

Developing Early Maths through Story

For Foundation and KS1

Marion’s sing-along, join-in stories make maths relevant, fun and accessible. How many stones does it take to move a mountain? What’s inside the magical box? How can you catch the thief that steals the cookies? These stories will open the door to the fun you can have with mathematics.

Workshops for parents and for teachers

In this workshop, explore some traditional stories with mathematics at their heart, and the concepts behind them. You will think of some new problems to solve with the children in your setting, new ways to play with maths together – and you’ll go home with a smile on your face and a head full of stories.

Developing Early Maths through Story is published by Practical Preschool Books

The book is designed to help early years practitioners feel more confident about teaching early mathematics, using story and rhyme. It takes mathematics outdoors, into every area of the home or classroom, and is designed to show carers and educators how many of their everyday activities are building their children’s understanding of mathematics. Each section is based on a traditional story and includes advice on storytelling techniques with young children.

“A good resource that I am happy to recommend students to buy….. ideas that will help them think differently about maths.” - Gillian Ellis, Lecturer, Cheadle College.

“I promise that you will be feeling excited about maths by the time you have read and tried out one of these ideas/activities” - Martine Horvath, EYE magazine.
